ROW80 Sunday Check-in: Ooofta!

Since last Tuesday, I've been sick. Usually I bounce back in a day or two. Not this time. Yuck. I slept in until 8:30 am this morning. DH checked on me to make sure I was still breathing. Thank heavens for Sudafed and Robitussin DH; otherwise, I would not be functional at all. Naps seem to interrupt the day despite my best intentions. As my mother used to say, "Oofta!"

ANY PROGRESS SINCE LAST WEEK?

WRITING  = goal to add 1K new words.  Actually added 980 words to 7th tapestry and 400 to the memoir.
BLOG = Post x3. Yes, posted to ROW80 x2 and to my writing blog x1.
READ BLOGS x5? Surprise! Actually read x8. And connected with my ROW80 writing partner.
CRIT Novels_L. No progress.
Type Allen's St. Remy. No progress.
OTHER: Full stop on exercise, quilting, and studying Spanish this week. And that's OK. My Spanish books are too easy, so tomorrow I go to the library to check out a few bilingual stories (the kind that have Spanish on one side and English on the other).

WHAT'S NEW? On January 28, we leave for Seville, Spain, for 6 weeks, healthy or not. I hope they let us on the plane. So, these next few weeks will see me focused on getting ready for the trip -- and planning how to bring my writing. I typically travel with a netbook (light, invisible, limited memory) and a journal. Meanwhile, I'll try to get healthy and stick to the above weekly goals.

ROW80: May you have a great week. Click to visit ROW80 HERE on our blog or over on Facebook to catch up on what others are doing. Stay healthy!

  1. Ugh, sorry to hear you got the crud! This one that's going around seems to linger. Take good care of yourself so you will be healthy and ready for Spain!

    1. Thank you, Kim, for your good wishes. I'm almost feeling too old for this kind of adventure, but we're starting to get excited if not actually underprepared. More Spanish review is needed!!!

  2. Extra naps might not be a bad thing though. I always write better after a nap. I'm impressed that you managed to get so much writing done with the sickness. I hope you feel better soon!

    1. Thank you, Ginger. Actually today is the second day I almost am back to myself -- writing and all, although those naps were needed to get through the day!

  3. Needs naps is probably a sign your body needs to build some extra energy. If you're feeling more exhausted after the nap though, maybe you need to pull back on that time (there's some science that suggests if you sleep past 45 minutes you move into the second deep-sleep cycle, and it can actually make you more tired)...

Hope you get clear of this crud before the trip starts.

    1. Thank you, Eden. Normally if I nap for an hour, I pop back up totally refreshed. When I was sick, these 'naps' would last 3-4 hours. I'm so grateful the worst is now behind me, though I'm more aware today of what a gift good health is for us all!

  4. You did quite a bit for being sick! And I'd say you did something for Spanish studies by discovering that your resources don't match your needs.

May you feel better, and thoroughly enjoy the time in Seville!

    1. Thank you, Shanjeniah! DH found a wonderful bilingual book of stories in our local library, so I'm feeling a little better about making progress. We're traveling with a group of 6 who depend on us for local language, so this review is important to me. Perseverance furthers!
