Happy dance . . . Happy dance . . .

Want to do the happy dance with me this time? I successfully uploaded The Mermaid Quilt & Other Tales on Smashwords between last night and tonight -- with photos! This long-standing goal brings me just that much closer to publishing my historical fiction this fall. So, here's my gift to you for all your words of encouragement!

ROW80 Thank you give-away! Here's your coupon for a free copy of The Mermaid Quilt & Other Tales. Use coupon code GT23V today only, Sunday, September 18, on Smashwords. You don't have to write a review (unless you felt compelled to do so). This is really a simple, heart-felt thank you!

Goals for the coming week:

1. Cherish each day.
2. Continue the battle to reduce electronic clutter.
3. Work on research for Rivers of Stone.
4. Write 5 sentences a day for Rivers of Stone.
5. Continue final read for Standing Stones.
6. Work on covers with BFF graphic designer for all three books in McDonnell Saga series.
7. Exercise x3 this week. Yoga x3. Might as well be optimistic.

Daughter update: She's a little better each day, weaning herself off the pain meds. She liked the cauliflower-cheese soup I made (right out of Moosewood cookbook by Molly Katzen and only slightly adapted). She used the walker and the wheelchair to get out of the house to SuperCuts for a wash and buzz (first clean hair in 3 weeks, and I swear that girl's hair is 1/4 inch long). Temperatures now down in the 80s for the next several days, so all is well in Lake Woebegon this week.

May your writing go well.

  1. Yay! I'm reading the Smashwords Style Guide now. Congrats on uploading the book.

    Have a great week, Beth!

    1. Hello, Julie. Smashwords is still an experiment for me as I try to find out what e-publishing platforms best lead people to read my stuff. I just read an article that says stick only with Amazon and KDP (their free 5 days to build readers), but one potential reader wrote me and said --PLEASE use Smashwords because I use Barnes & Noble's NOOK. So, keep me posted as to what you wind up doing, please. Thanks for stopping by.

  2. Congrats on getting your book up on Smashwords! I find SW so much more frustrating than Amazon or B&N or Draft2Digital! :(

I've been away for a while, and I hadn't heard about your daughter's health issues. Wishing her all the best!

  3. I hadn't heard about you daughter, either, as I have had my nose firmly implanted in my own business these last few weeks. I am thrilled that she's getting out and about, even if only a little.

Thrilled about your Smashwords success, and dancing right along with you(trust me, it's good for a laugh!).

Keep right on cherishing those days, and I'll wager the rest will iron itself out! =)

  4. I never knew of your daughter, Beth? It seems she's on the mend and best wishes that will continue.

I published to Smashwords several times now and although I struggled, I know a quickie way to format now, so it's slightly less of a hassle. I have Finding Esta and two shorts up. It's a triumphant feeling because they make you jump through hoops, so huge well done to you, Beth. I'm happy dancing right alongside you and Shan. :) You might like to try Draft2Digital in future: soooo much easier (any Word doc.) and quicker (straight through to distribution channels). But they don't have those lovely coupons.

  5. Hope your daughter continues to do well. So sorry I missed the free download... that's what I get for being so behind on checking up on people.

I love, love, love your goal #1--something I really need to work on lately. Hugs to you.

    1. Hello, Tia. Send me your e-mail, and I'll send you a coupon . . . or something like that. I think because Rachel fell, I'm even more aware that each day is precious. We sometimes take too much for granted. :) May your week go well.
